Picks in general are made with 2 or 3 main reasons behind them. One is thickness. This one can be bought with a measurement like 0.96mm or the words heavy, medium, thin and last it’s how you hold the pick.
The Blue Star pick has a hole cut so when you grab it your thumb and finger has a better grip so you won’t drop it and also the Data orange pick has a nice grip. The Fender triangle pick works great also because of the wide surface it has makes it great for hanging on.The rounded edges of the Golden gate pick is for mandolin. This gives the paired strings a better way the glide across the strings faster and smoother for tremolo.
Holding a pick. Use your thumb, index and middle fingers and grabbing the big end. now when you have a light gauge pick..chock up on it by moving towards the narrow point of pick making the pick not have much to work with makes a light pick turn into a heavy pick by not allowing it to move much …more stiff. Now the other way take a hard heavy pick and make it thin by not choking up.
